  • Guess The Number of Sweets in The Sweet Jar

    Sun 29 May 2022

Huge congratulations to Jack from P4, Room 8 who correctly guessed there were 182 sweets in P5's sweet jar. We hope you enjoy your prize! Mrs Archer would like to thank everyone who had a guess as they raised over £200. The initial target was £60 to build one toilet for a family in Africa and the class raised so much that they can build a whole toilet block for a school in Africa. Well done to all the children in Room 10 who worked so hard to raise this money. Their certificate should arrive in the post next week with more information about when and where the new toilet block will be built.

Congratulation to our boys football team after they finished runners-up for the second place trophy at the Galactico Soccer Primary Schools tournament at Blanchflower Stadium narrowly losing 1-0 in the final to Glencraig. Thanks to Mr Gullen for organising the team's participation. Both of our teams have done us proud over the last two weeks!

  • Congratulations To Ted From P6

    Thu 26 May 2022

Congratulations to Ted from P6 and his CIYMS teammates as they got to play at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday after his team was selected from a competition a few weeks ago. They won all four matches against some of the biggest clubs in the whole of Ireland. He played really well and loved every minute including running from his own half and beating five defenders to score the winning try in the last match. He also scored 5 tries last month in Dublin to help his team win 7 out of 7 matches over two days and he was awarded try of the tour. Amazing stuff Ted!

  • Flowerbed Photo Competition

    Wed 25 May 2022

Congratulations to all the winners of Miss Dunn's flowerbed photo competition. The children planted a variety of bulbs a few years ago and it was a great opportunity for them to get close up and see them in full bloom. It really was an impossible task for her to select as there were so many beautiful snaps taken by the children. The overall winners were Erin (P7 Room 13) in first place; David (P2 Room 4) in second; and Adam (P4 Room . Thanks to Miss Dunn for all her hard work organising such a lovely project.

  • TEN Foundations

    Tue 24 May 2022

During Wellness Week our P3-P7 pupils had a visit from Ian from TEN Foundations, a charity run by volunteers here in Northern Ireland that works in the Philippines with families living in extreme poverty. Pupils really enjoyed finding out all about his charity, how ‘one bag can change a life’ and exploring themes such as fair trade and global citizenship. All the money goes directly to the livelihood programme in the Philippines created by Ten Foundations. You can find out more information about the workings of the charity and the fantastic opportunities it provides for the people of the Philippines via this link (https://www.tenfoundations.org/).

Over the next number of weeks School Council will be setting up shop for pupils to make purchases. There is an array of lunch bags, lunch boxes, pencil cases and swim bags available for sale in school. School bags are also available to purchase in our current P3 – 7 classes for use in our next academic year. If you are interested in making a purchase, please find more information via Seesaw.

  • Congratulations to Bruno in P7

    Tue 24 May 2022

Congratulations to Bruno in P7, Room 13 who passed his Grade 1 violin with a distinction. Bruno has been working extremely hard all year with his tutor Mr Kane and this fantastic result is very well deserved. We are very proud of you, Bruno!

  • Galactico Soccer Primary Schools Tournament

    Fri 20 May 2022

We are so proud of our girls football team after they won the second place trophy at the Galactico Soccer Primary Schools tournament at Blanchflower Stadium. After winning one, drawing two and losing one in the group stage, they triumphed in a nerve-shredding semi-final against St Joseph's after a penalty shootout and then went on to win the final 2-0 against Towerview. It was especially amazing considering they have only had two after-school sessions with Tanya and Mr Ryden since we restarted some of our clubs. A special mention also has to go to Lexie who played through the pain barrier after falling awkwardly in the semi-final. We have since found out that she actually suffered a buckle fracture of her arm yet somehow managed to play on and help the girls to victory in the final. A truly amazing achievement girls!
