  • Choir At George Best Belfast City Airport

    Mon 18 Dec 2017

The choir have had an extremely busy few weeks. They were down at George Best Belfast City Airport on Monday afternoon bringing some much-needed festive cheer for the passengers in the terminal. Well done to all the children involved and a big thanks to Miss Boyd and Mrs Mitchell for all their hard work. It was also great to see so many parents come down to support us as well.

  • P7 Victorian Trip

Mon 18 Dec 2017 Mr Rankin

The P7s had a great day recently  at the Ulster Folk Museum  Learning about how the Victorians celebrated Christmas and trying their hand at cracker and candle making and quilling. Thanks to all the mums who braved the arctic conditions to help out!

  • P2 trip to Castle Espie Wilfowl and Wetland centre

Mon 18 Dec 2017 Mr Rankin

P2 braved the winter weather recently on their exciting visit to Castle Espie Wildfowl and Wetland Centre. As part of the children's investigations on the topic of Wild Woodlands, they made magic potions from natural materials, learnt interesting facts about woodland creatures and fed the hungry wildfowl! A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who accompanied us on the trip.

  • CS Lewis Festival poetry competition

Mon 18 Dec 2017 Mr Rankin

She's definitely got a way with words! Congratulations to Courtenay from Mr Ryden's class who was a runner-up in the Primary School category of EastSide Partnership's CS Lewis Festival poetry competition. Entrants were invited to write a very short poem, based on the festival theme ‘Surprised by Joy’, about what surprises them about east Belfast, in less than 140 characters - the maximum length of a tweet on Twitter. Her poem about CS Lewis Square was praised by the judges at a special prizegiving event at W5 this afternoon and she received a special goodie bag with a £25 book token and a copy of 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' after reading her poem for the invited guests. She was supported there by fellow entrants Aliyah, Rhys and Pierce. Well done Courtenay

  • Blue Peter Book Awards 2018

Mon 18 Dec 2017 Mr Rankin

Our Chatterbooks group are delighted to be involved in the Blue Peter Book Awards 2018! We are one of only 12 schools in the UK chosen to judge two awards: best story and best book with facts. The children were really happy to receive the books this week and made special bookmarks for them. Thanks to Mrs Walker for getting the children involved in such a prestigious project.
