Bug Club

Each child has a personal library of

Bug Club eBooks to read online at home.

These eBooks have been carefully chosen by the children's teachers to match their current reading levels.

How do I log into my child's Bug Club homepage?

If you have access to an internet connection, your child can enjoy reading Bug Club books online. Each child has a unique homepage, and can log into it by following these simple steps:

1. Go to www.activelearnprimary.co.uk

2. Enter the login details as printed on your child's bookmark

3. Your child's homepage will appear

New digital books can be found in 'My Stuff' and any completed texts move to 'My Library' once all your child's answers to the quiz questions are submitted.

Reading a Book Online

Your child does not need to finish the entire book in one sitting! This is particularly true for older children who have lengthy novels to read.

Throughout the books there are quiz questions for your child to complete. To answer a question, simply click on the bug icon. Your child does not need to finish all the quiz questions in one sitting and can come back to a book later.

When your child completes quiz questions in a book, he or she earns ActiveLearn Coins and eventually will have enough coins to ‘buy’ a reward. The answers to the quiz questions will be sent back to our teacher site, so that we can monitor how your child is progressing. We will also be able to assign more books for children to read if supplies are running low.

Do I need to listen to my child reading aloud?

Until they are fluent readers, younger children will benefit from reading aloud to you as often as possible. By the time they are in P6 or P7, many children prefer to read silently to themselves. Create quiet opportunities for them to do so, but then talk to them about the book they are reading.

For more information about helping your child with their reading at home, click on the Parents’ Help button on the Bug Club homepage.
