Winter Wonderland Week 3

Our story this week is:

One Winter's Day

by M Christina Butler

Listen to the story here.

Talk about the pictures and look for words you know as you read it.

Can you remember all the animals that Hedgehog met?

Draw a picture of your favourite part of the story and ask a family member to help you write the sentence, 'It is cold.'

Our new sound for this week is

u

Start by revising all the sounds we have learnt so far using your sound cards.

Sing along with the 'u' song from Jolly Phonics (see link below).

Learn the action and practice saying the sound.

Can you think of any sounds that start with 'u'?

Complete the page for 'u' in your sound homework book.

You might like to play this sound game:

Sound Splat!

Put out all your sound cards face up.

Ask an adult to call out a sound for you to splat using a spatula or a spoon.

Take turns to call out and 'splat' the word.

Use this Powerpoint to remind you how to write the sounds correctly.

Jolly Phonics "u" Sounds

Our new word for this week is:

It

it

Revise all the words you know so far either with your word cards or the balloon powerpoint.

How many times can you write it in 30 seconds?

You could try this with your name or some of your other words.

Have a go at making a sentence with it using some of your other words eg It is Kipper.

You might like to write 1 or 2 of the sentences you have made.
