Activities for Week Beginning 01/03/21

World Book Day Science Activities

You might like to have a go at some of these fun challenges!

The Three Little Pigs

Make a house for the 3 Little Pigs.

You could use lego, cardboard boxes, straws and tape, wooden sticks and blocks etc.

Try blowing it down with a hair dryer to see if it would protect the pigs from the wolf.

Alien's Love Underpants by Claire Freedman

Cut some pant shapes out of different materials eg paper, card, plastic bag, fabric, tin foil etc.

Dip them in water to find out which ones are more waterproof!

Or make an alien out of junk materials.

Noah's Ark by Lucy Cousins

Make a Skittles Rainbow.

If you have paints or food colouring at home you could try mixing different colours together to see what other colours they make.

The Gruffalo's Child by Julia Donaldson

Make a puppet from the story using black card and a lolly stick.

Shine a torch on the puppet and have a look at the shadow.

What happens to the shadow when you move the torch closer or further away.

Little Lumpty by Miko Imai

Try wrapping a boiled egg in different materials eg tin foil, bubble wrap, paper, kitchen roll, cling film, cotton wool etc.

Which ones protect it best from cracking when you drop it?

There are lots more ideas on Pinterest.
