  • Scholastic Book Fair

    Mon 29 Feb 2016

A reminder that the Scholastic book fair will be in school in the P3/P4 resource area until Friday every afternoon from 2pm onwards. Mrs Walker was busy on Friday afternoonn getting it set up and it looks amazing. We are also encouraging the children to dress up as a character from any book on Thursday for World Book Day if they wish to.

  • Northern Ireland Civil Service Athletics Club

    Sun 28 Feb 2016

Well done to all the P7 boys and girls who gave up their Saturday morning to repesent the school at the Northern Ireland Civil Service Athletics Club primary schools cross-country event at Stormont. It is the first time the school has particpated and it was great to see so many children want to take part. The muddy conditions made it very challenging but they all did the school proud. Hopefully they've all recovered now! Thanks to all the parents and family who came along to support us and Mr Dunlop for organising our participation.

  • Ulster Museum

    Sat 27 Feb 2016

The P4 classes had a great time at the Ulster Museum. As well as getting to walk around the different exhibitions, they took part in a World War 2 workshop and another workshop organised by Queen's University's Maths and Physics Department. Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who helped accompany the children.

  • Belfast Primary Schools Representative Squad

    Fri 26 Feb 2016

Well done to two members of our football team, Cole Killops and Ryan McKay, who recently took part in trials for the Belfast Primary Schools Representative Squad. They were competing with nearly 80 other children from primary schools all over Belfast for places on the team. Unfortunately, they didn't make the squad but they are in great company as neither did George Best when he was in primary school! You need a little bit of luck and as the coaches of the team themselves would say, they don't always get it right. We are very proud of them for getting this far in the process and they were presented with certificates from the Belfast Primary Schools FA in assembly. Hopefully, they will show what the Belfast team is missing on Monday afternoon when they play for the school in the semi-final of the Victor Sinclair Cup!

  • Ashfield Boys' Primary Rugby Programme

    Thu 25 Feb 2016

A reminder for parents of P6 and P7 children taking part in Ashfield Boys' Primary Rugby Programme that the second session is on Friday 26th February. Like last time, the minibus will pick the kids up just before 2.30pm and return them to school around 3.30pm.

  • Parent Interviews

    Wed 24 Feb 2016

Your child should have brought home a letter regarding the parent interviews being held during the week beginning Monday 7th March. There will be no interviews available Thursday 10th March as it has been confirmed that this date will be the official opening of the new school building. More details will follow soon.

  • Cinema

    Tue 23 Feb 2016

A big thanks to all the parents and grandparents who helped accompany the children to the cinema this last week. Hopefully the Chipmunks weren't too annoying!

  • Rainbow Communications

    Mon 22 Feb 2016

Thanks to Rainbow Communications for the great photo of our footballers with David Healy at the 5-a-side finals a couple of weeks ago. They will be in action again  in the semi-finals (and hopefully final!) of the Victor Sinclair Cup at Olympia Leisure Centre if you want to come down and cheer them on.

  • World Book Day

    Fri 19 Feb 2016

We are hoping to make this World Book Day one to remember! Our annual Scholastic book fair will be in school in the P3/P4 resource area from Monday 29th February to Friday 4th March. Each child will receive a £1 book voucher which can be used for any book over £2.99. As well as that, we are encouraging the children to dress up as a character from any book on World Book Day itself (Thursday 3rd March) if they wish to. The children will also enjoy a visit from storytellers and there is also a competition to design a bookmark to encourage reading with lots of great prizes. Thanks to Mrs Walker, our school librarian, for organising all these different events and activities.

  • Friends of Victoria Park Primary School

    Thu 18 Feb 2016

A big thanks to all the parents who came along to the recruitment meeting for our PTA, Friends of Victoria Park Primary School. Without their hard work, we would not be able to host the discos and other fundraising activities that the committee organise for the benefit of all our pupils. We really do appreciate you giving up your time to come along and offer your support.
