  • Bollywood dance workshop

Tue 29 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
P5 have been learning all about India this half-term. As part of the topic, they took part in a Bollywood dance workshop facilitated by Donna from Arts Etka. The children had lots of fun learning the traditional Garba folk dance and using the sticks (dandiyas) to move to the music. The Garba is a dance which celebrates Diwali, a Hindu festival celebrated in October each year. The classes had their own mini Diwali party in school. The children tried lots of Indian foods and made colourful elephants. The children also wrote their own shadow puppet plays based on Indian folk tales which they performed for the whole year group. Finally, they looked at examples of traditional Indian clothes which Katie modelled for us.

Mon 28 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for the amazing support for our Spooks fundraising day. The children's costumes were absolutely fantastic and they loved their workout as always with Fitness Freddy. Happy Halloween!
  • Harvest

Sat 26 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated food items for the Harvest assembly collections organised by Miss Potts. These were very gratefully received by The Larder Food Bank on Mersey Street.
  • Chatterbooks

Fri 25 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
Mrs Walker's Chatterbooks book group are delighted to have been chosen by Stripes Publishing to receive these advance copies of 'The International Yeti Collective' along with lots of goodies. It is very exciting to be among the book's first readers and to be asked for our feedback. It is increasingly difficult to get fresh material for the group so opportunities like this are invaluable.
  • P3 Breaktime

Fri 25 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
Mrs Beatty can't resist taking a few photos when she's on break duty. This time these are from the P3 playground!
  • Music Time with Mrs Beatty

Fri 25 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
Tuesday afternoon is Music Time with Mrs Beatty in P7 Room 13! Here you can see our budding conductors as they listen to and watch famous classical pieces being performed by an orchestra. They are also beginning to compose their very own music for the recorder. Working in small groups and using just 3 notes and a simple rhythm, the class produced some amazing tunes! Well done P7!
  • BPSFA East Belfast Festival Day

Mon 21 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
Our footballers had their first outing of the new season in the first BPSFA East Belfast Festival Day at Ormeau 3G on Wednesday afternoon. They won their matches against Harding Memorial and Nettlefield, drew against Orangefield and Campbell College and lost narrowly against St Matthew's. Their first competitive fixture will be a tricky away tie against Sacred Heart in the Edco Under 11/Year 7 Cup in the next few weeks. Well done to all the boys who took part and a big thank you to Mr Gullen for arranging his parent interview schedule so the school could take part.
  • Way to Go Frankie!

  • 'Maths with Parents'

Tue 15 Oct 2019 Mr Hutchinson
Thanks to all the P1-P4 parents who have signed up their child so far for the 'Maths with Parents' online platform following on from September's parent information afternoon. We trialled this innovative resource with last year's P2 and P3 children with great success. It helps you and your child enjoy exploring maths together in line with the mastery methods being taught in school. If you haven't signed up yet, please find the attached photo for your child's class (P1 Room 1 - Mrs Harris; P1 Room 2 - Mrs Hamilton and Miss Potts; P2 Room 3 - Mrs Jenkins; P2 Room 4 - Mrs Lennox; P3 Room 5 - Mrs Johnston; P3 Room 6 - Mrs Thom and Miss Gillespie; P4 Room 7 - Miss Dunn; P4 Room 8 - Mrs Adams and Ms Youde) for more details. If your child was already registered in P2 or P3 last year, you simply log in as previously and select the new class. If there are any issues or difficulties with getting registered, please contact Mr Ryden at school or email him (dryden451@c2kni.net) and he'll be more than happy to help you get set up.
