  • Young Enterprise

Tue 28 May 2019 Mr Hutchinson

Young Enterprise came into school this week to teach the P4s about what is in our community. They looked at what they needed and why particular businesses locate in certain areas. The P4s also had a chance to come up with their own business ideas and present them to the rest of their class. Great fun was had by all!

  • Time to Read

Fri 24 May 2019 Mr Huitchinson

A group of our P4s who are involved in the 'Time to Read' programme were invited to Citi's headquarters in the Titanic Quarter for a morning of fun and games yesterday! They were also treated to a lovely lunch. As always, the children were fantastic ambassadors for the school with impeccable manners and behaviour. Thanks to Mrs Beatty and Blair's mum for accompanying them.

  • Keep it up Kyan!

Thu 23 May 2019 Mr Hutchinson

As a keen parkrunner himself, Mr Ryden was delighted to see Kyan, one of our P5 pupils, down at Victoria Park Junior Parkrun at the weekend. Not only that, he placed 11th out of 52 runners with a super time of 10:07. The junior parkrun is a weekly timed 2 kilometre run for juniors (4-14 year olds) that takes place every Sunday at 9.30am. We are so lucky to have this fantastic event on our doorstep so if you think your child may be interested in giving it a go, see the link below for more information:

  • Picture book hamper

Tue 14 May 2019 Mr Hutchinson

Congratulations to Jessica from P2 for winning our fabulous picture book hamper! Jessica’s mum attended our 'Coffee and Crafts' literacy workshop last Friday for parents of children in P1, P2 and P3. A big thank you from Mrs Lennox to everyone who came along and created a paper collage inspired by the book 'Leaf' by Sandra Dieckmann. It was wonderful to hear all about the books that your children are reading at home and to share a wee cuppa together!

  • Mason in Barcelona

Mon 13 May 2019 Mr Hutchinson

Well done to Mason, one of our P5 pupils. He plays for Glentoran 2010s and they recently played in the Football Cup in Barcelona. Over 100 teams were involved and they managed to reach the final only to lose against Aurore Sportive Saint Gilloise from France. A big well done to him and the rest of his teammates!

We're certainly on a roll at the moment! After all our recent award-winning success, Mrs Gourley has only gone and picked up another one! She won the Amazing Women in Education award at the Families First People and Business Awards last night at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel. Thanks to everyone who nominated her and to everyone else who took the time to vote for her by leaving a comment. It means a great deal to her and the school. Well done Mrs Gourley!

  • Edtech 50 Schools

Thu 09 May 2019 Mr Hutchinson
We are very excited to announce that we are one of only 5 schools in Northern Ireland to be included in the 2019 Edtech 50 Schools. Mrs Gourley and Mr Bleakley were delighted to be able to attend the launch event this afternoon at the House of Lords. One Edtech 50 judge deemed Victoria Park 'outstanding in every way'. Run by the Education Foundation and EdtechUK, the national Edtech 50 Schools programme finds and recognises the top 50 schools across all of the UK that are making exemplary use of educational technology. Its report shines a spotlight on the schools in the UK that are doing amazing things every day to support, enhance and transform teaching and learning with technology to help children get the very best out of our education system.

Wed 01 May 2019 Mr Hutchinson
