  • School Staff

    Mon 27 Jun 2016

At the end of this year we have to say goodbye to a few members of staff.

Mrs Maguire and Mrs McGlinchey will be retiring at the end of this month. Both are senior staff and have been with us for many years in Strand and then Victoria Park, carrying out many areas of responsibility over the years. Between the 2 of them they have almost 70 years teaching experience and they will be really missed in school. We wish them both relaxed, healthy and well deserved retirements.

Mrs Bambrick has also been with us for a number of years covering in primary one to release Mrs Thom as well as co/ordinating the artwork and displays in the new building. We will miss her enthusiasm and creativity and wish her well in her new fulltime post at Inchmarlo.

We will be welcoming at least 2 new teachers and interviews for these will be taking place over the next 2 weeks. We hope to have both staff here on 29th June to meet their new classes.

We will also be losing Miss Leslie who has been a special needs classroom assistant with us for many years and we wish her well as she moves to Australia.

Miss Watson, Mrs Dawson and Mrs Hudson have worked with this year providing temporary cover as special needs classroom assistants. We thank them for their work and support and wish them well for the future.

We have also been privileged to have a number of temporary support staff, parent volunteers and a number of other classroom assistants completing placements and additional qualifications in school. We will be sorry to lose them all and express our thanks and best wishes as they continue in new employment or further education.

  • Ryan McKay

    Mon 27 Jun 2016

Well done to Ryan McKay, P7, who was the sole representative from the school at the Inter-area Cross-Country Challenge at Ormeau Park. He qualified for it after finishing 8th in the Belfast finals a few weeks ago. The results haven't been published yet but this is a fantastic achievement as he is the first pupil from Victoria Park to progress to this stage. Well done Ryan and thanks to your dad for taking you along.

  • P2 Trip

    Mon 27 Jun 2016

P2 had a very exciting time last week at The Ulster Museum when they discovered lots of new dinosaur facts. The children saw some huge dinosaur skeletons, listened to an explanation of extinction and even got to hold some fossilized dinosaur pooh! A big thank you to all our helpful parent volunteers who accompanied us on this super trip.

  • Sponsored Walk

    Mon 27 Jun 2016

This year we held a Charity sponsored walk around Victoria Park & all of the children completed it, despite some delays due to the weather. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children. So far the amount raised is £1680.00. Please try to send any remaining sponsor money to school by Friday 10th June. Thank you to George Best Belfast City Airport for providing refreshments and certificates to every child on completion of their walk. This is our charity walk and we will be inviting the Children's Cancer Charity into school to receive a cheque at one of our assemblies.

  • Castlereagh Golf Club Tournament

    Mon 27 Jun 2016

We were delighted to be invited back up to Castlereagh Golf Club to take part in their tournament and a small group of P7s accompanied by Mrs Beatty had a great day at the club. They didn't win but gave it their all. We wish to thank the members of Castlereagh and in particular Roy, for the lessons he provides here in school and for the wonderful hospitality shown to our children and staff at the club.
