The winners will then play the winners of the other semi-final between Inchmarlo and St John the Baptist on the same day. • AQE results

    Sat 30 Jan 2016

Good luck to all our P7 pupils awaiting their AQE results today. They all worked incredibly hard preparing for them so hopefully all that dedication and commitment will be rewarded. Whatever scores they achieve, we are proud of all of them for giving it their best effort.

    Thu 28 Jan 2016

A reminder for parents of P6 and P7 children taking part in Ashfield Boys' Primary Rugby Programme that the first session is on Friday 29th February. The minibus will pick the kids up just before 2.30pm and return them to school around 3.30pm. The next session will be on Friday 26th February.

  • East Belfast Festival Day

    Thu 28 Jan 2016

Our footballers continued their fine run of form with two wins and a draw in their matches at the second BPSFA East Belfast Festival Day organised by Mr Ryden. They beat Harding Memorial 4-1 and Knocknagoney 5-0 and drew 1-1 with Nettlefield. Well done again to Mr Dunlop and the team.

  • Reading for Enjoyment

    Mon 25 Jan 2016

A big well done to all the super P7 pupils who took part in our new Reading for Enjoyment project last term. The children successfully completed a range of workshops based on the book 'The Wolves in the Walls' by Neil Gaiman. They researched interesting facts about wolves online, developed their understanding of story settings, learned all about onomatopoeia and produced some great creative writing. It is wonderful to hear that our school librarian, Mrs Walker, has received lots of requests for more Neil Gaiman books!

  • Calendar Update

    Fri 22 Jan 2016

    Dear Parents

A new feature of the school’s website allows you to subscribe to events from the school calendar so that they download into your own personal calendar on your mobile phone, tablet or computer.

All you need to do is visit the calendar on the school website and click the link called ‘Link the school events to your personal calendar’. You can then choose from three options: to add to your default calendar (for example, on an iPhone it will go to the iPhone calendar); to add it to your Google calendar; or input it to your calendar programme of choice.

    Things to know:

    • If the school edits its calendar, the updates will appear automatically in your calendar (the time that this takes to happen will depend on your calendar programme).
    • You cannot edit the events in the school calendar.
    • All events will pull through in one colour only, not the colours set by the school.
    • You can name the calendar and choose how often to receive updates (we recommend you set this to as often as possible).
    • You can unsubscribe via your own calendar at any time.

If you have any questions or feedback, please let the office know and we can forward them to the school’s website provider.

  • Fun in Athletics

    Thu 21 Jan 2016

The P7s had a fantastic afternoon at Strathearn School today taking part in their 'Fun in Athletics' roadshow. The children participated in a variety of relay races and field events against teams from Strandtown, Kilmaine and Lisnasharragh. We may very well have some future Olympians in the making!

  • Ancient Egyptian Workshop

    Thu 21 Jan 2016

The P5 classes enjoyed a great day at the Ulster Museum where they had a very interesting workshop on Ancient Egyptian practices, traditions and artefacts. They were also very lucky to have the trip scheduled when the museum is hosting a Dutch painting exhibition, including the last self-portrait by Rembrandt which is currently on loan from the National Gallery. The children were a credit to the school as their behaviour was exemplary throughout the day. A very big thank you to the parents who gave up their time to escort the children. All the photos may be viewed on the P5 class page on the website.

  • Parent Questionnaire

    Thu 21 Jan 2016

Your child will be bringing home a parent questionnaire this week as we are seeking your views about the school to assist in the process of producing the School Development Plan for the next academic year. We would really appreciate it if you would take some time to complete it and return it your child's teacher or leave in the school office by Friday 12th February. There is also an electronic copy on the school website in the Information for Parents section if you would prefer to email it to Mr Ryden. His email address is dryden451@c2kni.net.

  • Interviews

    Thu 21 Jan 2016
A reminder for P7 parents that if you have requested an interview with Mrs Gourley to complete your child's transfer form, you need to contact the school office (tel: 90471274) to arrange a suitable time. Interviews for parents whose child did not sit the AQE tests will take place from Wednesday 27th January. The AQE results are issued on Saturday 30th January and interviews for AQE pupils will take place on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd February.
