    Thu 21 Jan 2016

Our school kitchen was inspected by the Food Hygiene Standards Agency and was awarded the top rating of 5 stars!!!! We already know the food is delicious but isn't it both reassuring and pleasing to know that it is also 5 star hygienic!!! Well done to all the kitchen staff and in particular Mrs Miskelly who works tirelessly to keep everyone's tummies happy!!

  • Football Team

    Wed 20 Jan 2016
A massive well done to Mr Dunlop and the football team as they finished runners-up at the Ashfield Primary School Soccer Sevens tournament. After topping their group winning four of their six matches, they then beat Gilnahirk 2-0 in the semi-final before agonisingly losing the sudden-death penalty shootout in the final against Cregagh after it finished 0-0. Ryan McKay was also named as the Player of the Tournament by the organisers. Our B team also made it through the group stage finishing in third place before losing their semi-final against Strandtown. A big thank you to Jonny McKay as well for helping out again.

P7 visited the Ulster Museum on 11th December to do Victorian Christmas Crafts and visit some exhibits. Amber Brown described the trip as 'Absolutely Spectacular' and said she cannot wait to go again!

P7 Room 13 and 14 had a very interesting trip to Ashfield Boys on 6th and

8th January. The pupils spent the morning developing their own drawing app, which they were then able to take home with them on their own pen drive. Thanks to Mr Lowe for all his patience and support in making this an enjoyable experience for both pupils and teachers alike!

  • International Day

    Tue 19 Jan 2016

On Thursday 17th December 2015 we had Christmas around the World Day! Each class spent the day learning about a different countries Christmas traditions. Lots of fun was had by everybody. Among the many highlights of the day was the sampling of traditional foods, learning key phrases in other languages, Malawian dancing, making lights for Saint Lucia and designing traditional Spanish Christmas cards. Next month the whole school will be celebrating Chinese New Year Day on Monday 8th February 2016.

  • Music

    Mon 18 Jan 2016

Places are still available for School of Music tuition in school for violin, percussion and guitar. Fees are £50 per term. An insurance & hire charge is paid for violin whilst guitar pupils provide their own instrument. Please see school office if you are interested.

  • Swimming

    Fri 15 Jan 2016

P4 and P7 will begin their swimming sessions this term. The children will go to

Templemore Pool every Monday morning. Please ensure your child remembers their swimming things (including swimming cap-these are compulsory) and payment for the pool every week (£3.00). Please note that swimming is not an optional activity but is a statutory part of The Northern Ireland Primary Curriculum (CCEA 2007).

  • PE

    Wed 13 Jan 2016

Parents, may I ask you to please ensure that your child brings their PE kit on the correct day. Many pupils are forgetting these, they are unable to take part and have to be supervised in other classrooms. PE is a legal requirement and all children must take part. Can I ask you to also prevent piercing ears as earrings must be removed by the children for PE lessons due to health and safety.

  • Winning House

    Mon 11 Jan 2016

Congratulations to Peters House for winning the last term's house competition. A special trip will be arranged for all of the house members to attend the Strand Cinema for the morning.

  • P7 Transfer Procedure

    Fri 08 Jan 2016

Our Primary 7’s will be receiving their transfer results on Saturday 30th January.

The Department of Education has suggested that schools no longer provide meetings to complete the transfer forms. However, I wish to inform you that I will be continuing to offer you an interview time to discuss your child's options and to ensure that all essential criteria is put on the transfer forms - missing information could result in your child not being admitted to your choice of school.

All P7 parents - You will be receiving a letter from me listing available dates. If you wish to arrange a meeting please contact the school office to book a suitable time. Your child has already received a list of all Open Nights - please try to visit as many of the school Open Evenings as you can.
