Thank you to everyone for the fabulous comments and support you sent in for our nominations at the Families First Awards on Saturday evening.

We were delighted to come home with 6 lovely awards. Our two fabulous ladies, Karen Kane and Carla Ferguson, were awarded Gold Stars for their contributions to school and community; Mr Bleakley was a finalist in the Best teacher award; and we also got awards for Best School with links to the Community, Best Overall Primary School and Best Primary School Principal.

We were overwhelmed again by your comments and support and celebrate as a whole school community in achieving these together.

  • Exhibition Match

    Fri 25 Mar 2022

Our footballers were delighted to be invited to play an exhibition match at half-time during tonight's Centenary Shield Under 18 Schools International match between Northern Ireland and England at Blanchflower Park. They played Belvoir Park Primary and won 3-0 with two goals from Blair and one from Brody. Thanks to all the parents of the children involved for bringing them down to represent the school and Mr Gullen for giving up his Friday night to organise our participation. It's great to be back playing football again after a long couple of years!

  • Helping Refugees From Ukraine

    Thu 24 Mar 2022

Adam and his father managed to successfully deliver all the supplies they brought over with them. They left some in Poland for Ukrainian refugees and the rest they took to the Ukraine border for families who are in need there. Adam's mum would like to thank his Room 8 classmates and parents for their generosity. They are now on their way home and Adam will hopefully be back in school tomorrow to tell us all about his experience.

  • Rugby Coaching

    Thu 24 Mar 2022

The P6 and P7 classes have been enjoying rugby coaching with Stan from Civil Service RFC over the last few weeks. Please see the details below for their training sessions starting on Monday night at Stormont Pavilion. There are separate teams for boys and girls.

  • Royal visit to east Belfast

    Wed 23 Mar 2022

P3 Room 6 were invited to Holywood Arches Library to perform their story of The 10 Little Dogs. A surprise VIP, the Duchess of Cornwall, dropped in as part of the Royal visit to east Belfast to listen to them and was very impressed. She enjoyed chatting with the children at the end. The children were brilliant in their performance as well as behaviour. They were a real credit to our school.

We are one of four schools to be invited to play an exhibition match at half-time during the Centenary Shield Under 18 Schools International match between Northern Ireland and England at Blanchflower Park on Friday evening. • Crosslinks 'Take Back Our City'

At the weekend seven of our girls took part in the Crosslinks 'Take Back Our City' showcase at the Drama Theatre at Stranmillis. Elisha, Tia and Melissa from P7 along with Faith, Kiana and Olivia from P6 and Leah from P5 performed the final dance routine of the evening and they were fantastic! We were delighted to hear about our girls representing the school so well.

Mr Ryden was delighted to see three of our girls back at the junior parkrun at Victoria Park when he was volunteering this morning. Abbie and Abigail from P7 were the fastest girls there today and also achieved PBs as did Beth, Abigail's younger sister. Well done girls!

  • Families First finalists

    Tue 15 Mar 2022

Parents, thank you again for all of your nominations to send us to the finals of the Family First Awards again.

We have been nominated finalists as Best School, Mr Bleakly is a finalist as Best Teacher and we’re delighted to carry over nominations for two of our outstanding classroom assistants form the postponed event in 2020. Mrs Karen Kane and Miss Carla Ferguson were both nominated for Gold Star Awards for their outstanding contributions in our school.

Now we need all of your votes. Please vote for each  finalist-it’s the quality of the comments that will impress the judges rather than quantity.

Thanks for getting us this far and let’s build on the fabulous success we had here 3 years ago.

Voting comments are now open at   www.famliesfirst.com
