  • Rainbow Communications 5-side-tournament

Tue 19 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson

It just wasn't meant to be for our footballers last week unfortunately. St Thérèse of Lisieux ran out as winners at the finals of the Rainbow Communications 5-side-tournament held at Shankill Leisure Centre last Wednesday and they narrowly lost their semi-final in the Davy Wilson Cup on Thursday against Campbell College Junior School conceding two goals in the last few minutes. Huge credit must go to Mr Gullen and the children for reaching the latter stages of both competitions. Thanks to the BPSFA for forwarding these great photos from Rainbow of our footballers at the 5-a-side finals.

  • P7 Trip to Queen's University

Sat 16 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson

The P7 classes enjoyed a guided tour of Queen’s University and finding out about university life as part of their 'Professor Fluffy' programme. They also got the opportunity to try their hand at dactylography (the study of fingerprints) and chromatography as part of a STEM challenge. Thanks to Queen's for inviting us to be part of this project and also to Poppy's grandad, Ebony's mum and Grace's mum for accompanying the children again

  • Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum's recent report writing competition

Fri 15 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson

Another P7 superstar! Ellie from Mr Ryden's class was announced as the winner in her age category of the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum's recent report writing competition. Drawing on the key theme of RESPECT, which was at the heart of the NIABF’s Anti-Bullying Week campaign last November, this competition invited young people from across Northern Ireland to reflect on learning and write a short report on the theme “RESPECT in the Cyber World”. Ellie will receive her prize at a special ceremony next month. An amazing achievement!

  • One of our star footballers

Fri 15 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson
A massive well done to Rylan, one of our star footballers. He has been selected for the Belfast Primary Schools Representative Squad, only the third Victoria Park pupil ever to do so. He competed with children from primary schools all over Belfast in two different trials to claim his place on the team. He will play in the Bryson Cup in two matches against Arklow Town FC in June. A special mention as well to our other two trialists, Jay and Kameron. Although they weren't selected, we are very proud of their efforts and even the selectors themselves would say that they don't always get it right. Well done to all three boys!
  • P5r9 Belfast City Airport trip

Fri 15 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson

P5 Room 9 had a wonderful morning yesterday exploring George Best Belfast City Airport. All the children had a great time hearing first-hand how to handle airport emergencies, seeing around the airport fire station, exploring the equipment and seeing it in action before heading to see around the newly updated terminal and seeing how the UK Border Force help keep the province safe. A great time was had by all the pupils and they were very grateful to all who helped to organise and show them around the airport

  • No Netball club

Fri 15 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson
A quick reminder, there will be no netball club today as the school closes at 2pm for half term. Have a lovely break!
  • No Football Club

Wed 13 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson

There will be no P6/P7 football club today as Mr Gullen is away at the Shankill Leisure Centre with a team taking part in the finals of the BPSFA 5-a-side tournament. Good luck to the team and fingers crossed as well for Thursday afternoon when they're in action again as they play Campbell College Junior School in the semi-final of the Davy Wilson Cup.

  • Radar Centre

Wed 13 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson

The P7s had a very enjoyable and informative afternoon yesterday at the RADAR centre in Sydenham Harbour Estate. RADAR is Northern Ireland’s only life sized interactive safety and life skills education centre. The children took part in interactive workshops on fire safety, home safety, bus safety, road safety and online safety. We are very grateful to Belfast City Council for funding our visit. Thanks to Ebony's mum, Grace's mum and Poppy's grandad for helping out.

  • The Four Corners Festival

Wed 13 Feb 2019 Mr Hutchinson
Our school, along with St Matthew’s, has been chosen to represent East Belfast in The Four Corners Festival. Back in November, the children in P5 Room 10 took part in a drama workshop run by Play it By Ear. Chris and Ross came to our class and played drama games with the children as well as performing a few plays which they had written. After that, six children volunteered to take part in a play to be held tomorrow night in Stranmillis Drama Theatre. Today they got the oppor...tunity to rehearse alongside St Matthew’s and we’re looking forward to tomorrow night’s play where schools from North, South, West and East Belfast will come together to perform ‘They Started It!’ More information about the play can be found by visiting this link: www.4cornersfestival.com. Good luck to Soffi, Nathan, Kacey, Skye, Mylo and Tia. We know you’ll make East Belfast proud!
