Connswater Opticians Helps Children Be Seen On Our Roads
Tue 19 Apr 2016The Connswater Specsavers team has donated 120 high visibility vests to help young children in East Belfast be seen better on our roads. The giveaway marked Specsavers’ sponsorship of Road Safety Week and aimed to highlight the importance of being visible to motorists and to keep young people safe.
Greenwood Primary School, Victoria Park Primary School, St Joseph’s Primary School and Orangefield Primary School each received a set of 30 vests for use by their pupils.

Official Opening
Tue 19 Apr 2016It was a momentous day in the short history of Victoria Park as the new school building was officially opened on Thursday 10th March by First Minister Arlene Foster MLA. It has been a long journey to say the least but it was fantastic to have so many guests attend the ceremony. A special mention must go to our amazing choir who sang so beautifully. Thanks to Miss Boyd and Mrs Mitchell for all their hard work with them and the children themselves for their dedication all year.

Summer Uniform
Tue 19 Apr 2016Thank you for the smart turnout of the P4 to P7 pupils who have changed into their summer uniforms. If you haven’t already, the children should be wearing their pale blue polo shirts instead of shirt and tie. (Polo shirts without the logo can also be purchased in most of the local supermarkets)
All girls, P1-P7, have the option of wearing the blue check dresses. A school cardigan is available at Schooldays if you wish to purchase one to wear with the summer dresses. School fleeces are also available.
Choir members and P7 s should keep their shirts & ties for choir performances and for end of term services.

Principals Introduction— April 2016
Mon 18 Apr 2016Since our return to school at Easter, we have been extremely busy with activities, visitors, trips and much more. And we’ve still a lot to do this term, including our visit by M&M Theatre’s production of The Jungle Book.
Please check the back of the Newsletter and the Calendar page on the website for forthcoming events. Thank you for all of your continued support and your outstanding generosity in sponsoring the children and contributing to special events and outings. We have a lot of events this term and I look forward to seeing you at these.

Standardised tests
Mon 18 Apr 2016It is especially important that the children are in school on time this week as all the P3-P7 pupils will be completing English and Maths standardised tests. They will be starting them promptly after the register is taken and latecomers will not be given any additional time.

Belfast Primary Schools FA 5-a-Side tournament
Sat 16 Apr 2016They think it's all over...er, not quite yet! We thought the football season had finished but we have just received some fantastic news. You may remember back in February that we finished as runners-up in the Belfast Primary Schools FA 5-a-Side tournament to Gaelscoil na bhFal. As winners, they were invited to the national finals this coming Friday at Lisburn Leisureplex but unfortunately for them, they can't attend. We have therefore been asked to go instead. This is a brilliant opportunity for our footballers to compete against the best schools across the province. We'll let you know how they get on.

Cross-Country runners
Thu 14 Apr 2016Our cross-country runners had lots of muddy fun negotiating the course at Orangefield Park yesterday morning in the East Belfast heat of the Belfast City Council Primary Schools Cross-Country Competition. It was extremely tough going but they all gave it a great go. A special mention for Ryan McKay who finished eighth in the boys race. Thanks to Mr Dunlop for organising the school's participation.

Olympia Leisure Centre
Wed 13 Apr 2016Our footballers put in a great shift today at the Festival Days finals at Olympia Leisure Centre but unfortunately it wasn't to be. They won their match against Sacred Heart, drew against Harding Memorial and Stranmillis and lost against the eventual winners Seaview. They really have had a fantastic season and represented the school so well. The fact that over half of our players today were P6 bodes well for next year. A big thanks to all the parents who have helped transport and support the team over the last few months, particularly Jonny McKay who has been an immense support for the last two years. It is now the turn of our cross-country runners tomorrow morning who take part in the East Belfast heat of the Belfast City Council Primary Schools Cross-Country Competition. Good luck guys!

Mon 11 Apr 2016Good luck to Mr Dunlop and the football team as they take part in the BPSFA Festival Day finals at Olympia Leisure Centre. After topping the East Belfast section, they now take on Harding Memorial, Stranmillis, Sacred Heart and Seaview to see who the overall winners are. Hope the boys and girl who competed at Craig Tara for Sydenham United and East Belfast this weekend are getting an early night!
