• MacMillan Coffee Morning

  We were delighted to again take part in the recent Macmillan Coffee Morning and this time we extended it to the whole school, including parents who dropped in to have coffee and a chat. Lots of the children bought buns and cakes too. We were overwhelmed by the support and the phenomenal generosity shown. Our overall total for the morning was £390. Thank you for donating and to everyone who was able to drop in to share the morning with us.

• Marie Curie Fundraising

  Marie Curie member Jeanette had a busy day on Thursday. Not only was she doing a bucket collection the night before but she also attended Victoria Park Primary School Thursday afternoon with Gavin the community fundraiser for Marie Curie to accept a cheque donation of £1500. Thank you to Victoria Park Primary School pupils and staff for their very generous donation. #MarieCurieEastBelfastFundraisingGroup

  

• Under the Hawthorn Tree

  Our P7s had a lovely morning on Friday at The MAC Theatre. They went to see their fantastic new production of ‘Under the Hawthorn Tree’, a new stage adaptation by Cahoots NI of their class novel this term. There was extra excitement when the theatre had to be evacuated when a fire alarm went off but fortunately the show still went on! Thanks to Ebony's mum and Poppy's grandad for accompanying the children

  

• Car Park Barrier Reminder

  This morning before school, a member of staff was almost run over by a parent in a silver car who came through the barrier and down into the drop-off.

  As you are aware this area is closed off and only staff may park in the spaces beyond the barrier. No other cars should be in this area, whether the tape is up or not! This area has been closed due to a child being hit by a car last term.

  This could very easily have been another child and the consequences could have been much ...worse!

  Work will begin later this month on a permanent barrier to protect our children. School has to pay for this ourselves at a cost of £25,000. Money which we could be using for our children’s education.

  

• De Stress Coffee Morning

  Rachel, our parent officer, will be holding a coffee morning on Friday morning (5th October @ 9am) in the Sydenham Room.
  Next Wednesday is World Mental Health Day so she will be discussing how to look after the mental wellbeing of yourself and your family.

  

• PSNI Road Safety Initiative

  Our P7s were visited by Declan and Jim from Strandtown Police Station yesterday as part of the special road safety initiative organised by the PSNI across the country. They also had time to apprehend a few of the year group's dodgier characters as well!

  

• Macmillan Coffee Morning Reminder!!

  A reminder that our Macmillan Coffee Morning takes place on Friday morning and parents/grandparents are all welcome in the Sydenham Room between 9 and 10.30. In order to raise more funds we will be selling any delights left over to the children throughout the day so they can bring pocket money (10p, 20p, etc) in if they wish. Any more donations of buns would also be greatly appreciated.

  WISPA NI is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Athletics NI & Buggy Club NI starting from the 18th September.

   

  We have TWO new 6 week programmes starting in East & West Belfast for all you mummy's out there.

   

  Just come along and meet us at either of the locations listed below for a great workout with your wee ones.

   

  Due to the nature of this programme please be advised that all children attending these sessions must be in a buggy/pram
