Bollywood dance workshop
Tue 29 Oct 2019P5 have been learning all about India this half-term. As part of the topic, they took part in a Bollywood dance workshop facilitated by Donna from Arts Etka. The children had lots of fun learning the traditional Garba folk dance and using the sticks (dandiyas) to move to the music. The Garba is a dance which celebrates Diwali, a Hindu festival celebrated in October each year. The classes had their own mini Diwali party in school. The children tried lots of Indian foods and made colourful elephants. The children also wrote their own shadow puppet plays based on Indian folk tales which they performed for the whole year group. Finally, they looked at examples of traditional Indian clothes which Katie modelled for us. -
