Chinese New Year
Mon 19 Feb 2018Gong Xi Fa Cai! Gong Hei Fat Choy! We celebrated the Chinese New Year early last Friday. Here are some photos from P7 Room 13, P4 Room 8 and P1 Room 2. Miss Campbell's class had a go at using chop sticks to lift sweets. They also sampled pea crackers (they were not very nice!), prawn crackers, fortune cookies and Chinese New Year ‘Lucky Candy’! They also had a go at origami. P1 read a story about the animals of the Chinese zodiac and found out which animal it was in the year they were born. They also made cards and coloured pictures for the Year of the Dog. They looked at some Chinese new year decorations and watched a parade. Mrs Adams wanted to show off Zak's amazing face paintings. Brilliant Zak!

After braving the cold and snowy conditions, the pupils came face to face with a 3000 year old mummy and even turned into professional archaeologists, handling real life shabti which were over 3000 years old. They explored the museum and investigated a range of real life and replica Egyptian artefacts which brought their learning to life. A big thank you to Ellen's mum, Sebastian's mum and Bailey’s mum and Zoey’s dad who helped with the trip.
