  • Parent/Carer Questionnaire

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to complete the parent/carer questionnaire that was recently sent home, particularly those who included written comments. We were delighted to receive nearly 150 back and the responses were overwhelmingly positive. A summary of the results can be found on the 'Information for Parents' section of the school website. We have already started to look at any suggestions made on the questionnaires to see what can be implemented to make the school even better!

  • P7 Under the Hawthorn tree trip

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

The P7s certainly looked the part as they stepped back in time over 150 years ago to the period of the Great Famine in Ireland. They took part in a tour of the Country section of the Ulster Folk Museum based on the novel “Under the Hawthorn Tree!. The children had a great day and they all looked absolutely amazing. Thanks to all the mums who helped out on the trip.

  • P6 Parents

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

Just a reminder that application forms for AQE entrance tests will be available for P6 pupils from 3rd May 2016.

Application forms can be downloaded from the AQE website- www.aqe.org.uk. If you have any problems obtaining a form, please call into the school and we will download some spare copies. Closing date for applications is noon on 9th September 2016.

Late applications will not be taken and your child cannot sit the tests without submitting this form. Applications should not be returned to Victoria Park P.S. You can withdraw from the process right up until the first test-but you cannot opt in after closing. If in doubt apply now and keep your options open!

This process does not involve the primary schools in any way and we are limited in the information that we receive. However, if you have any questions regarding the transfer procedure, whether your child wishes to sit these tests or not, please do not hesitate in ringing to speak to me or in making an appointment and I will endeavour to resolve any queries or concerns that you may have.

  • Local Elections

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

Our school is also used as a Polling Station and will be used for the General Election on Thursday 5th May so school will be closed for that day. Friday 6th May will be an exceptional closure for pupils.

  • May Day Weekends

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

Don’t forget our bank holidays next month. School will be closed on Monday 2nd May for the May Day Bank Holiday and also Monday 30th May for the other bank holiday weekend.

  • The Jungle Book

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

M&M productions will return to Victoria Park on 11th May for their production of the classic “The Jungle Book” This is subsidised by school but a charge of £3.00 is required. This is a professional company and bringing them into school for 2 performances saves considerably on having to pay for transport to go out to a local theatre.

  • Eileen Black - former pupil of Strand Primary School

    Tue 19 Apr 2016

At our official opening last month we were delighted to welcome Eileen Black, a former pupil of Strand Primary School, now 95 years of age. The First Minister met Eileen and chatted with her. Eileen was born in 1921 and attended Strand from 5 years of age until she was 15 and then moved to secretarial college. We were very saddened last week to hear that Eileen has passed away. We are thankful that she was able to join us for our special day and wish to pass our condolences on to Eileen’s family.

  • Official Opening

    Tue 19 Apr 2016

It was a momentous day in the short history of Victoria Park as the new school building was officially opened on Thursday 10th March by First Minister Arlene Foster MLA. It has been a long journey to say the least but it was fantastic to have so many guests attend the ceremony. A special mention must go to our amazing choir who sang so beautifully. Thanks to Miss Boyd and Mrs Mitchell for all their hard work with them and the children themselves for their dedication all year.
