Tue 20 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated food items for our Harvest assembly collections before Halloween. These were brought round to The Larder Food Bank on Mersey Street by Miss Potts.

  • P4-P7 Parent Reminder

Tue 20 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

A reminder for P4-P7 parents that they should not enter the playground and collect their child at the end of the school day for safeguarding reasons. Each class remains under the supervision of the teacher until they are released once they go through the gate. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

  • Holywood Music Festival

Mon 19 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

P3 Room 5 and the choir have been working extremely hard over the past few months preparing for the Holywood Music Festival on Tuesday and they sound fantastic! Parents are very welcome to come along to support their children on the morning but please be aware that photography isn’t permitted inside the church. The children have all received a letter with details about timings and uniform and we would appreciate your help with this. Miss Boyd, Mrs Johnston and Mrs Mitchell are all very proud of the children and we know they will represent our school superbly.

  • Digital Leaders meet Martybot

Fri 16 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

Mr Bleakley's Digital Leaders had great fun this week playing with their new friend Martybot. They were asked to trial this robot for XMA and provide feedback to help them understand how he could be used in school. The children had a great time programming Marty to dance and even play football, as well as troubleshooting how to improve him.

  • Football Festival Day

Thu 15 Nov 2018 Mr. Gullen

On Tuesday 13th November, the football team took part in a 7 a-side festival day at Inverary, along with Orangefield, Gilnahirk and St. Joseph's. The team looked fantastic in their brand new away kits and competed well against the three other teams. Unfortunately results didn't go our way, losing each game by a single goal, although we had some very good efforts that could of made a big difference.

The first match against Orangefield was a narrow one nil defeat, with Rylan being denied by the post. In the next game Rylan's well taken goal wasn't enough to get a result against Gilnahirk, the team eventually losing 2-1. The team were unlucky when Lee's close range effort was somehow scrambled off the line. The final game against St. Joseph's was a tight affair, with Kameron's effort sailing just over the bar. Lee, making another appearance off the bench was unlucky to be denied by a last ditch sliding tackle.

While the team was disappointed, there were a lot of good individual performances and positives to take into the next game.

Team: Aaron Black, Jay Greenaway, Ebony Stirling, Liam Woods, Kameron Black, Rylan Stirling (c), Evan Rowley, Reuben Madden, Lewis Carson, Lee Newberry.

  • Fitness Freddy Spooks fundraising day

Thu 15 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for the amazing support for our Spooks fundraising day before the Halloween break. We raised nearly £2000! The children's costumes were absolutely fantastic and they loved their workout as always with Fitness Freddy.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 2018

Thu 15 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

We have been marking Anti-Bullying Week 2018 this week and the children have been completing various activities around the theme of RESPECT. As this Friday is also Children in Need, we have decided to celebrate both by holding a 'Wear Something Yellow' day. Yellow is the colour for the RESPECT week and can also remind us of the Children in Need mascot, Pudsey. It is not a normal non-uniform day on Friday but if the children would like to add to their uniform with something yellow or something Pudsey, it will make our Friday lovely and bright. If you wish to make a small donation to Children in Need please send it on the day.

  • Centenary of the end of the First World War

Sat 10 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

On the eve of the centenary of the end of the First World War, the P7s were lucky enough to receive a special talk from one of our 'Time to Read' volunteers, Mrs Sandra Harper, whose great-uncle Lieutenant William Frederick MacHutchison fought in the war and was shot and died in 1918. She told them how he had been buried under a headstone with no name and he was only formally identified last year. She travelled with her son to France and attended a special service at Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery and a new headstone was dedicated to him. The children were absolutely fascinated by her amazing story and we are very grateful that she took the time to come and talk to them and bring in some of her great-uncle's possessions.

  • AQE Tests

Fri 09 Nov 2018 Mr Hutchinson

Good luck to all the P7s who are sitting the first of three AQE tests tomorrow morning. They have worked so hard preparing for them over the last few months. Just do your best!
