Musicians and choir
Thursday was a busy day for our school musicians. Firstly, the children who receive woodwind tuition in school performed during hymn singing. Jessica, Shade and Mya played beautiful pieces on their flutes and Leah and Katie-Leigh played their clarinets excellently. The girls have made superb progress this year and as a school we are very proud of each of them. During hymn singing we also congratulated Gavin on his recent selection for the CBSM Junior Strings Orchestra. Gavin is in P4 and has only been learning the violin since September which makes his achievement even more incredible. Well done to all of our performers and a special thanks to Mrs Foreman, our woodwind tutor, for all her hard work with the girls.
After school, our choir welcomed Ed Jones, the Assistant Organist of St. Anne’s Cathedral, along to their practice. Mr Jones was very impressed with our singing and would like to invite some of our children to join the Cathedral choir. This is an amazing opportunity for our children and will mean that they will have access to a free musical education which would ordinarily cost thousands of pounds. Mr Jones will return to school with letters of invitation over the next few days. He had intended to only select 8 children but was so impressed with the choir that he’s selected more than this! Miss Boyd and Mrs Mitchell are so proud of the whole choir.
