Winter Wonderland Week 6
Our story this week is:
Ridiculous
by Michael Coleman
Remind your child about hibernation and about animals that hibernate in winter time.
You might want to look at the PowerPoint below again.
Talk about the pictures in the story and listen for sounds and words you know.
Why did the animals think it was ridiculous for Shelley to be out in winter? What could each of the other animals do that Shelley couldn’t?
Ask your child to tell you what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Use the page below (or piece of paper if you don’t have a printer) to draw a picture from the story and have a go at writing a sentence
eg,
’I am Shelley.’ ‘It is winter.’
Our sound for the week is:
B b
Start by revising all the sounds we have learnt so far.
Learn the Jolly Phonics song for b & practise saying the sound and doing the action.
Practise making the letter b using playdough/pasta or small toys.
Try this with some of your other sounds.
Complete the page for B b in your sound homework book.
Have a go at some of the activities below.
Revise all the words you know so far using your word cards or the balloon powerpoint below.
Choose some of your favourite word games to play such as:
