8th - 12th June

As a follow-up to last week's work on plants in the rainforest, we would like the children to learn about the life cycle of plants and the different parts of a flowers and their function.

Firstly, they need to watch the BBC Bitesize video and then cut out the pictures and word boxes relating to the life cycle of a dandelion on the sheet.  They can make a mobile as suggested on the sheet but it would actually be preferable to arrange the pictures in a rough circle with the matching word boxes underneath each picture. They could start with the seed landing in the soil picture and word box to start at the top but it doesn't matter which one they start with as long as they are in the correct order.  Look at the answer sheet if unsure before starting!

Secondly, they need to watch the BBC Teach video about the parts of the flower.  They are then going to make their own flower using the Flower Model template.  Once complete, they need to glue the right-hand half down on a piece of paper and label the different parts (apart from pollen) that are on the Parts of a Flower poster.  There are two photographs at the bottom that give you an idea of what it should look like when it is complete.
