    Transition: Moving On 

    In the next few weeks we will begin to focus on transitioning from Primary School to Secondary School. We have a range of activities listed below for pupils to complete and also some interactive videos for them to watch, to help support their understanding of this move.

    • Year 8: A day in the life What is life like in the first year at secondary school? Follow Alfie through a typical day in Year 8 from when he gets up to what happens in class and what he gets up to after school.
    • 8 things I wish I'd known before starting secondary school Logan, Jessie, Zoe and Ryan all know what it's like to start secondary school. Here, they share eight things they wish they had known at the start, which might help you settle in. From making sure you're not carrying too much stuff in your bag to a clever trick with your phone, which will help you know where you need to be at all times.
    • Myths about secondary school Everyone has heard stories about starting secondary from how scary the teachers are to getting your head flushed down a toilet. But is it really like that? Students from CBBC's Our School tell us what is true and what isn't.

    Transition Time Capsule

    In this activity P7s  will have the opportunity to document their emotions and thoughts as they make the transition to secondary school. Pupils can record their details, current news and thoughts and their hopes and concerns for secondary school and then look back on them when they leave secondary school.

    Here pupils have the opportunity to list their hopes and aims for the upcoming academic year in the three main areas, Academic, Pastoral and Extra Curricular.

    Letter to My Teacher

    In this activity we would like pupils to draft a letter to their new teacher in Yr8. We have given a brief planning sheet and even some examples that could be used to as a guide.

    We would really love top see your letters so please remember to email us a copy of your finished product.

    A Letter To your Future Self

    For this activity we would like you to write a letter to your future self. It could be a letter for you to read this time next year or in a few years time. We have listed ideas for what to include in your letter (hopes, goals, ambitions). Once you have finished these we would love to read them so please remember to send to us via email.
