This week we are continuing to learn about

numbers within 15.

Please play the number recognition activity above, then complete the daily activities below. Should you find these activities are too challenging for your child, simply click on the star to find activities for numbers within 8.

Monday: I can rote count forwards to 15

• Listen to your child counting forwards in 1s from 0-15.

• Count forwards from 0 and stop at any number within 15. Can your child say the number that comes after? Repeat.

• Complete the following activity:

Tuesday: I can make and count amounts within 15

• Use small items found at home (e.g. pasta, buttons, beads, lego) to make amounts for numbers 11,12,13,14 and 15. Ask your child to show the amount in a straight row, to make counting easier.

• Touch count the sets of objects from 1-11, 1-12, 1-13, 1-14 and 1-15. The last number that is said is the total amount in the set.

• Now make a row of ten objects. Ask your child to add 1 more. How many are there now? Say "The number that comes after 10 is 11." Add 1 more to the set of 11 objects. How many are there now? Say "The number that comes after 11 is 12." Repeat for 12, 13 and 14.

• Complete the following activity:

Wednesday: I can recognise and order numbers to 15

• Count forwards from 0 to 15, but leave out one number. Can your child say the number that was missing? Repeat.

• Print the number cards (provided below) or write the numbers up to 15 on pieces of paper.

• Cut out the individual cards then turn each number face down. Reveal one number. Can your child identify the number? Repeat.

• Reveal all the digit cards. Order the cards from 0-15. Count from 0 to 15, pointing to each number as you go.

• Complete the following activity:

Thursday: I can explore ordering numbers to 15

• Show a random number card from yesterday. Can your child say the number that comes before this number?

• Select two of the number cards. Make amounts for each of the numbers, showing in rows as yesterday, for easy touch counting.

• Ask: Which of the amounts has the least value and which has the greatest value? How do you know? Repeat this task, selecting two different number cards.

• Ask your child to say these three sentences about one of the numbers: e.g. 6.  6 comes before ___, 6 comes after ___, 6 is between ___ and ___ Repeat this task for other number cards.

• Complete the following activity:

Friday: I can add 1 more to numbers within 15

• Ask your child to listen carefully. Clap an amount within 15. Can your child say how many claps they heard? Repeat.

• Make a set of 14 small objects (using pasta, buttons, beads etc.) Say "There are 14" and place the matching number card beside the amount.

• Now add one more object to the set. Say to your child "There were 14. I added 1 more. There are 15 altogether. One more than 14 is equal to 15." Replace the 14 number card with the 15 card. Repeat this task for other amounts within 15.
